CBB here! I’m a design lead + Scrabble champ!
I’m Conrad—or CBB—and I'm a staff designer @Google. A player-coach, I have experience as both a lead IC and a UX manager. Currently, my team @GStore is building + scaling Pixel purchase + steady state experiences.
I previously designed multi-modal systems @GoogleAI (now under DeepMind) for technology we now know as LLMs.
I’m also the 2014 National @Scrabble Champion, and former world #1 ranked. Semi-retired, but retain Grandmaster status.
I combined my loves of UX and word-games to co-found and GM a 401(c)(3) NFP @Woogles.io from 2020-2024, growing the platform to 10k+ MAU.
📍 Portland-based, Bay Area-raised.
Design @Google
I joined Google out of graduate school in 2017, and have worked all across the company on efforts from a11y to AI to growth that have ultimately been used by billions of people around the world.
From 2017-24, I was promoted 3 times (L3 —> L6), and now have multiple years of experience as each a manager and an IC lead.
Omnichannel Commerce, Google Store (2024-)
Staff IC player/coach for 12 person Google Store Commerce UX team.
We are responsible for all experiences beneath the top of the funnel for Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit hardware + subscriptions, from device configuration to all-things device ownership. Lots of 0-->1 work as we continue building the "steady state" for Pixel device ownership.
(Rough scale: XM unit sales / MAU, XB revenue).
Growth, Google Fi Wireless (2019-2023)
IC lead and manager responsible for growing Google’s in-house telecom provider. My team and I were responsible for the design of phone plans, sign-up, promotions, device offerings, subscriptions, and upgrades.
(Rough scale: XM MAU, XXK unit sales, XXXM revenue).

National Champ, @Scrabble
The game of Scrabble and its colorful subculture community has had a profound effect on my journey and who I am today.
Most notably, I won the 2014 US Champion after previously holding the world #1 rank in 2012. I’ve been a US / international Grandmaster since, although I have not competed super-seriously since building my career in tech.
Along the way, I’ve grown the game by mentoring youth champions, directing major events, and livestreaming + casting on Twitch.
In my prime, I was a professional ambassador on major media outlets like ESPN, SI, CBS, NPR, and the New Yorker.
Stay tuned…you never know when a comeback may be in the works!
